Linda Thorson grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin and has always
been inspired by the natural world. The colors, diversity
and light of the Midwest seasons offer a dynamic environment for
artistic inspiration. Being an avid nature photographer, Linda
has created an on-going reference file for her drawings and paintings.
Artistic expression
took a back seat to raising a family and a healthcare career. Her
art reawakening came with her retirement from her medical
career. Then what followed were art classes and an
active pursuit to discover her artistic passion. The spiritual
component to Linda’s paintings is at the core of her art.
The process of painting becomes one of self-discovery, focus and
growth. The ideas of color and texture, shadow and light
intrigue Linda, recognizing that even in the shadows, there is
color.
Linda has worked on
commissioned art projects for private and corporate clients. She
has shown her art in juried shows and art fairs. Linda has also
displayed at state and regional art exhibitions.
She is a member of the
Minnesota Watercolor Society and SEMVA (Southeast Minnesota Visual
Artists). Her artistic work (watercolor paintings, graphite
drawings, prints and cards) are on display at the SEMVA cooperative art
gallery in Rochester. Her works are also part of on-going
displays at local venues (hotels, theatres, and
businesses).
For this Rochester
based artist, art is a coming home for Linda. One of her
quotes: “An artist’s purpose is to create from the
heart and what comes is that inner beauty for all to see.”
