Arts and Hors d'oeuvres Semva's annual celebration of the arts. Join us for refreshments at the gallery on Oct. 10th from 7pm to 9pm and meet many of the Semva Artists. Quarry Hill Nature Art show Several Semva Artists are participating in this Annual Exhibit. The Show is Saturday Dec. 6th from 10am - 4:30pm & Sunday Dec. 7th from Noon - 4:30pm. Accepted into the State Fair A watercolor painting; Still Life in Autumn Light by HeeJune Shin was accepted at the 97th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition at the Minnesota State Fair. The State Fine Arts show is one of most competitive shows for the artists of all medium in the state. In 2007, only 372 pieces were accepted out of a total of 2284 works. Best of Show Semva Artist Karin Neuvirth Recieved the 'Best of Show' Award at the Green Lake Fine Art show with her expressionistic acrylic paintings. This juried fine arts show is held annually in the town of Green Lake Wisconsin, and this is the highest award given at the show. Art Walk Visit downtown Rochester businesses, studios and galleries the first Thursday of EVERY month from 7-10pm for an evening of refreshments, entertainment and one-on-one conversations with local artisans. Admission is free, however, if you purchase a 2008 Rochester Art Walk cup from one of the participating businesses, you will also enjoy an entire year of membership benefits, including e-mail updates and an extra something special (treats, offers, discounts) at each of your stops along the Art Walk route. The martini-shaped, glow-in-the-dark cup is $12. Thursdays on First It's almost here! Thursdays on First & 3rd will be returning for the Fifth year, this time with extended dates and space. Beginning Thursday, June 19, the newly renovated Peace Plaza, 1st Avenue and Historic Third will be taken over by local artists, vendors and musicians to bring you a Summer Market & Music Festival from 11am to 8:30pm. Every Thursday through September 25, you can hear wonderful music, taste local food and see the talent of people in the surrounding areas. The Semva booth will be located right in front of the Gallery on the Peace Plaza. SEMVA goes overseas Semva has had a long history of serving local artists by providing a venue to display artworks for the regional public. This year, Semva launched a new project of displaying these works for overseas audiences. Read More... |
